The Chelsea in Atlantic City...Chique Boutique Hotel Comes to Atlantic City...

Atlantic City New Jersey is no doubt not immune to the current economic downturn that has wrought the globe. What's more, for those of you that are familiar with Atlantic City, not only has the economic downturn hurt the market, but increasing competition from neighboring states, and legislation such as smoking bans have had tremendously bad effects.

The Chelsea Hotel Atlantic CityOk, you might ask, what is my point in all this. Well, earlier this year a new hotel opened up in Atlantic City called the Chelsea. It's located on Chelsea Avenue and the Boardwalk and with it's opening was a hope of heralding in a new ago to Atlantic City. One in which the notion of creating a destination resort that catered to more than just the casino market. I had an opportunity to visit the Chelsea Hotel in Atlantic City and I really think it's a home run for the city. The idea behind the creation and development of this hotel was to add a unique accommodations offering in a market filled with gawdy casino hotels or worse, low class motels. The Chelsea Hotel brings with it an overt level of glamour and class and it comes through brightly. The property is diverse in it's offerings that include, but hardly are limited to pool side cabanas, lounges with finely appointed fireplaces, and two signature restaurants. The first, Chelsea Prime, specializes in, but of course, steaks. The dining area is elegant, but casual and the noticeable level of professionalism from all of the staff is evident. Next is Teplitzky's Restaurant, which offers diner style food, but also equally excellent in preparation. Teplitzky's also offers a hide away cocktail lounge and coffee shop.

The Chelsea also offers some great nightlife options for those of you who don't like the loud scene of casino clubs. Basically most of the action is located on the 5th Floor. There you'll find both restaurants, access to the pool but also so much more. Also located on the 5th Floor is the Terrace Lounge. The Terrace Lounge has entertainment managed by well known New York City entertainment promoter the Beatrice Inn. Next is the Bar. Yep, it's the name of a lounge and as the web site say, the name says it all. The view from this place is awesome. Next up on our tour is the Living Room. This place is basically a casual but elegant place to sit and relax. Last on our list is the Game Room. This is one place you've got to see. It's artful as it is fun. Again, in the spirit of simplicity combined with grace, the Game Room is a hip room with antique velvet walls, fireplace and most important, a pool table. But this is no ordinary pool table. This pool table is an art deco style that fits in with the theme of the entire property.

I could go on and on about the Chelsea Hotel Atlantic City, but to see it is to experience it. If you're making your way to Atlantic City any time soon, consider staying a night there, or at the very least make sure you take a night to visit.
